Foster Care
In the heart of every community, there’s a growing need that often goes unseen yet is so critical to our society’s fabric – the need for compassionate foster families. Families United Network stands at the forefront of addressing this urgent call, advocating for the well-being of countless children and sibling groups in dire need of a nurturing, stable, and safe family environment. With the number of children entering foster care on the rise, the opportunity to make a substantial difference in the lives of the young and vulnerable has never been greater. This is a call to action and a signal to open your heart and home to be the change many children desperately need.
Becoming a foster parent with Families United Network means stepping into a supportive and empowering community. Recognizing that taking such a step can be daunting, we ensure you’re equipped and never alone in this journey. From the outset, prospective foster parents receive specialized training designed to prepare them for foster care’s unique challenges and rewards. This training is complemented by round-the-clock staff support, ensuring guidance is always just a phone call away. Additionally, acknowledging the financial aspect of care giving, a stipend is provided to foster families to cover the necessities and ensure the foster child or children in your care have their needs met comprehensively.
In order to become a foster parent, you must meet certain minimum requirements.
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Obtain criminal history clearances and child abuse clearances (we will assist you in applying for these if you do not already have them)
- Have a stable source of income, driver’s license, vehicle registrations & insurances and homeowner’s or renter’s insurance
- Have adequate space in your home for an additional child/children
- Pass a home safety inspection
- Be able to provide transportation for the children placed in your home
- Be free of communicable diseases
- Possess patience and understanding for the needs of children of all ages
Embarking on the foster care journey might seem overwhelming. Still, with our comprehensive training and ongoing support, it’s an incredibly rewarding experience. Together, we can make a vital difference in the lives of children in need.
